Need

Buying independent beer and wine at trade was unnecessarily fragmented. A venue wanting to stock several producers could be dealing with separate accounts, price lists, orders, payments and deliveries for every brewery or winery it bought from. For producers, reaching more hospitality customers often meant taking on that same administrative burden from the other side.

Motus had already solved much of the physical problem, holding stock and delivering it to venues. What was missing was a simple way to buy and sell across that network.

Approach

We designed BevEx as the marketplace layer connecting venues, producers and fulfilment. Venues can browse products from multiple suppliers, add them to one basket and check out once. What they see is tied to stock available through their fulfilment warehouse, connecting the shopping experience to what can actually be delivered.

Producers control how their products appear and what they sell for, while BevEx handles the marketplace transaction, payments and settlement. Motus continues to do what it already does well: hold the stock and move the freight. BevEx connects those pieces into a single experience without requiring any of them to reinvent their part of the system.

Outcomes

For venues, BevEx turns a fragmented buying process into one transaction. Buyers can order across multiple producers in a single basket, from stock that is actually available, and receive it as one coordinated delivery. That means less ordering admin, fewer deliveries to manage and fewer surprises when stock arrives.

For vendors, BevEx creates a direct route into hospitality without having to build and manage their own wholesale operation. Orders, payments and fulfilment are handled through the marketplace, while available stock determines what can be sold. Vendors can reach more venues without adding the administration that normally comes with them.

For Motus, BevEx puts its existing warehouse and delivery network to work in a new way. Stock already held by Motus can be sold and fulfilled through the warehouse that holds it, keeping freight on the right local network while generating more value from infrastructure that is already there.
